FASTER, HIGHERFaster, Higher is a multi screen video installation by the artist susan pui san lok, which took place at the British Film Institute during last summer. Film and Video Umbrella commissioned us to work alongside themselves and artist susan pui san lok to design a retrospective publication of the installation that further explored the subject whilst carrying ideas, themes and concepts from the installation through into the format of the book. Housed in a beautifully crafted slip case the book pays reference to the significance of the five Olympic rings and five screens within the installation, by dividing the rich content into five differing sections. Full-bleed screen grabs, powerful installation shots and in-depth critical essays are spread across ranging paper stocks which exemplify the changing pace within the film. Starting on a heavy uncoated stock the book seamlessly flows through to a lighter glossy paper and then back up to heavy gloss via a French-folded section. A printer's nightmare I'm sure you'd agree!
