ORIGIN 2009Origin is one of two large crafts fairs put on by the Crafts Council annually. It is held in October in the courtyard at Somerset House in a pavilion custom made by Ben Kelly. 300 makers show and sell their work over two weeks. After successfully designing the 2008 campaign, Crafts Council asked us back to produce this years identity along with all the supporting materials for the craft fair. Our task was to move the creative forward from last year whilst still retaining the key elements that made the former so successful. We commissioned David Sparshott to beautifully illustrate various parts of Somerset House on which we placed shots of featured craft objects, (Photographed by Sylvain Deleu). This created a fresh, contemporary look and feel to appeal to a much wider audience than Origin has already established.

Two lead objects were chosen that complimented this years colour palette to appear on posters (left) and various other pieces of marketing collateral. | ![]() |
